The OD600 is an instrument that measures the Optical Density (OD) of bacterial and other culture media within the 0-4Abs range at a wavelength of 600nm, thereby indirectly assessing cell density and growth status. Based on the Lambert-Beer law, when light with a wavelength of 600nm passes through a sample, cells scatter and absorb the light, and the absorbance (OD value) is proportional to cell density. It has a wide range of applications in fields such as microbiology, molecular biology, fermentation engineering, and biopharmaceuticals.
